crossed heart

back into the fray –

After turning Deadshifted in, I finished one short story, and sent it out for a quick pass by some friends, I should begin submitting it tomorrow night. And I read one entire book for fun. It was a long one, and I really enjoyed it. But, since I finished it at work last night, the worm turns, and the cycle rebegins.

I’ve got a lot of stuff I need to get done in the next six months — write all of Bloodshifted, likely get in Deadshifted’s edits/copyedits, and thennnnnnn — I want to do a novella project, and then another super sekrit project which is requiring me to read skads of research novels. (There’s nothing I enjoy more than purchasing research novels, and then researching them. They’re all like so many perfectly warm baths to stretch out my brain in.)

I’m pretty much going to have to assign myself a writing task each day and do it. No ifs, ands, or buts. I have a vacation upcoming — I’m doing Viva Las Vegas in March with a ton of local girlfriends, hoorays! — but that, and only that, will be my one stretch off of writing for the next six months. When I’m not writing, I’ll have to be reading research (such a delightful burden to bear!), probably mostly at work, which is where I get the most “read a bit here, read a bit there,” downtime.

Between my ambitious writing schedule, the ongoing job thing, and being out of town one or more weekends a month for conventions or retreats…yeah. It’s gonna require some laser like focus on my end to pull through. (And likely a lot of planning that I’ll chirp about here, ’cause that’s what I like to do, plus my chirping outloud drives my husband insane ;))

So today: sleep, yoga, food, work, commence reading Research Book 1, while thinking about novella plots on the drive over and on the drive back. I don’t think I want to start Bloodshifted until Feb (I just need a bit of a break to get some perspective), but that could change too, depending.

More chirpage to come. (Sorry, my life is so much better organized, and I’m so much better at sticking to a plan!, if I talk it all out. :D)
